“The Tathagatha… is the originator of the path unarisen before, the producer of the path unproduced before, the declarer of the path undeclared before. He is the knower of the path, the discoverer of the path, the one skilled in the path. And his disciplines now dwell following that path and become possessed of it afterwards.”

Three Characteristics of Existence Retreat

Wednesday, October 17 to Sunday, October 21, 2018
(4 nights)

Register

Level: Any
What does Any mean?

Teacher: Bhante Gunaratana, Bhante Seelananda & Bhante Jayasara

There are three characteristics, three marks, in all things animate or inanimate.  It is because of not understanding this we grasp things as they are mine, me or myself.  The three characteristics are impermanent, unsatisfactoriness and soulless respectively.  Vipassana means seeing these three.  When one sees these three is called seeing things as they really are.  The purpose of Buddhist meditation is to see things as they really are.  In retreat we talk and practice in order to understand these three characteristics of existence.  All retreats are considered silent retreats with the exception of Dhamma talks, question and answer periods including optional teacher interviews.

Please note, if a Retreat Registration becomes active during holidays or weekends, we may not be able to ‘get back to you’ about your retreat registration request until the next business day.  Thank you for your understanding.

Registration opens at 3:00pm in the Dining Hall. Please arrive to allow enough time to complete registration here and settle in before the retreat begins. All retreats end after lunch on the last day.
Although every retreat is slightly different here is a typical retreat daily schedule.
