“And what, monks, is that path, that way of attaining final Nibbana without clinging? It is this Noble Eightfold Path; that is, right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right concentration. This is the path, the way for the fading away of lust.”

Vesak Celebration Day

Sunday, May 27 to Sunday, May 27, 2018

Register

Teacher: This is not a retreat.

Vesak is the commemoration of the three main events in the life of the Buddha Gotama, all of which fell on the full moon day of the fifth month: his birth, enlightenment, and his final passing away. Buddhists assemble for this commemoration on or near the full moon day in May to observe the precepts, listen to dhamma, and offer Dana to the sangha.  It is a national holiday in some Buddhist countries.

At Bhavana the day starts with a chanting dedication to the Buddha at 10:40 am.  After that the lay people offer food to the monastics around 11:00.  As soon as everyone is finished eating there is a Dhamma talk given to the public.

If you would like to make a contribution to the meal, please contact the Meal Coordinators, Upal & Karen Obeysekare Phone: 681-231-8888 or email: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

No registration is necessary unless you would like to stay overnight.
If you would like to spend time at Bhavana before or after Sunday, please use the Visit Registration form.

Registration opens at 3:00pm in the Dining Hall. Please arrive to allow enough time to complete registration here and settle in before the retreat begins. All retreats end after lunch on the last day.
Although every retreat is slightly different here is a typical retreat daily schedule.
