History, Vision, Community, and Theravada Buddhism

YOUR DONATION ALLOWS BHAVANA SOCIETY TO CONTINUE OFFERING THE TEACHINGS OF THE BUDDHA TO ALL.

At Bhavana Society, we practice dana (Pali for generosity) by offering the Buddha’s teachings free of charge to all.

Along with sila (virtuous behavior), dana is considered essential to building a strong foundation for the development of wisdom through meditation.  It is through the practice of dana that we learn to let go of our self-interest and greed.

If you wish to practice dana by donating to Bhavana Society, you may make a monetary donation, contribute goods, cook a meal for the community, or volunteer at our center.  Bhavana Society depends solely on the generosity of all of you who value the teachings of the Buddha.
