Because our supporters wish to donate to Bhavana Society’s residential community, we provide this list of items which would be useful. We deeply  appreciate your donations and we remain grateful to ALL of our supporters!

Bhante G has requested that no processed foods be offered to the monastery. This is for the health of our monastics. Please… no cookies, crackers, candies, etc.


  • Healthy cereal, such as Grape Nuts or Granola, etc.
  • Ground Flax seed
  • Unsalted mixed nuts
  • Walnuts
  • Almonds
  • DRY cat food for Buddy, the monastery cat (his favorite is “Friskies Swirlers”

Dried Fruit (only without sugar, please)

  • Prunes
  • Apricots
  • Figs
  • Dates

Fruits and Veggies

  • Brussel’s sprouts
  • Bananas
  • Kale and spinach
  • Blueberries
  • Hummus


  • Plain, unsweetened yogurt
  • Kite Hill almond milk  yogurt


  • Coconut water
  • Coconut milk
  • Canned tomatoes (diced)

Household items and cleaners

  • Gallon disinfecting bleach (must be plain bleach, not no-spill or scented or mixed with a cleaner)
  • Long lighters for starting wood stoves and lighting altar candles

Heath and medicine cabinet

  • Psyllium Husk powder
  • Listerine mouthwash (original)
  • Crest Spin Brush toothbrush heads
  • Essential oils for a diffuser (.33ml)

Things we do not need

  • Rice
  • Laundry detergent
  • Scented candles
  • Air fresheners
  • Sugary cereals
  • Salty or sugary “snack foods” (chips, crackers, bars, etc.)
  • Candy (except for dark chocolate)
  • Rechargeable batteries (any size)

  • Light bulbs other than LED (we’ve switched over to 100% led light bulbs to save energy)
